Dennis Birekoven is a Consulting Director with Ortus Strategies based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Before joining Ortus, he served as Compliance Officer for a major international Oil and Gas joint-venture during its construction phase. In this role, he was responsible for the implementation of the JV's Ethics and Anti-Corruption Compliance Program.
Prior to this, he served as a Consulting Director for compliance consultancy firms including FGI Europe AG (the predecessor firm of Ortus Strategies) and n-sure gmbh. During this period, he supported the court-appointed Independent Corporate Monitor for a large global corporation in the automotive sector.
Earlier in his career, Birekoven spent nearly 15 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he worked on major international fraud investigations and anti-corruption compliance projects for multinational clients, including some of the largest fraud cases on record.
Birekoven has broad international business experience and has lived, studied, and worked for extensive periods in The Netherlands, Belgium, the United States, Colombia, Spain, Germany, Canada, and Switzerland.
He holds an MBA from Xavier University (USA), and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from European University (Belgium). He also holds the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation and speaks Dutch, English, Spanish, and German.
